Privacy Policy
Last updated: 20 September 2026
Dakar Dapper (“we”, “us”) sells men's wears and accessories online to customers in Nigeria and beyond. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, and the rights you have over it. We handle personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA).
What we collect
We only collect what we need to sell you something and get it to your door.
- When you place an order: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, city and state, plus any delivery note you add.
- When you create an account: your name, email address, and a securely hashed password. We never see or store your password in readable form.
- When you subscribe to our newsletter: your email address only.
- Automatically: basic technical information your browser sends, such as your device type and approximate region, used to keep the site working and secure.
We do not store card or bank details. When online payment is enabled, it is handled entirely by our licensed payment processor. Your card number never reaches our servers.
Why we use it
- To process, pack and deliver your order, and to contact you about it.
- To answer your questions, including over WhatsApp when you start that conversation.
- To send you marketing emails — only if you asked us to, and you can stop at any time.
- To detect fraud and keep the store secure.
- To meet our legal and tax obligations.
Who can see it
Your information is stored in our database with access controls that prevent other customers or the public from reading it. Only authorised Dakar Dapper staff can view orders, and every such action is recorded in an internal log.
We share data with a small number of service providers, strictly to run the business:
- Supabase — hosts our database and account system.
- Our delivery partners — receive your name, address and phone number so they can deliver your parcel.
- Our payment processor — handles card payments directly when enabled.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone, ever.
How long we keep it
- Order records: kept for six years, as required for tax and accounting.
- Account details: kept until you ask us to delete your account.
- Newsletter email: kept until you unsubscribe.
Your rights
Under the NDPA you have the right to:
- Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.
- Ask us to delete your data, where we are not required to keep it.
- Withdraw your consent to marketing at any time.
- Object to how we are using your data, or ask us to restrict it.
- Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
To exercise any of these, message us on WhatsApp or email us. We respond within 30 days.
Cookies and local storage
We use your browser's local storage to remember your shopping bag, your wishlist, and your delivery details so you do not have to retype them. This stays on your device — we cannot read it remotely. Clearing your browser data removes it. We do not run third-party advertising trackers.
Security
The site is served over an encrypted connection. Our database enforces row-level access rules, so order and subscriber records cannot be read by anyone who is not a signed-in member of staff. Administrative access requires a separate password-protected account, and every administrative action is logged.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach ever affects your personal data, we will notify you and the Nigeria Data Protection Commission as the NDPA requires.
Children
This store is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be announced on the site.
